Come and learn how to make this stylish asymmetric basket
On this active two day course you will learn how to make a round-based basket with an asymmetrical border, using Somerset willow. Using tried and tested willow basketry techniques, you will work in a small group of 6 led by an experienced basket weaver.
During this course you will take through the process of weaving a traditional ‘stake and strand’ style basket – with a twist, and a wooden handle. You are introduced and will use a variety of Somerset-grown willow and use age old basketry techniques to create your very own unique basket to take home.

Slath base construction,
3 rod wale,
Side weave adapted to your skill level,
Weaving an asymmetrical border,
Attaching a wooden handle,
(please feel free to bring a piece of wood if you have something special you would like to use)

EXPERIENCE AND ACCESSIBILITY:
This active course is aimed at beginners. Willow weaving can be hard on the hands, so is usually unsuitable for those who suffer from arthritis or other conditions that affect the hands, but do get in touch if you would like to discuss this further before booking. This courses is for adults only.
