- Saturday
2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Forest school is a fun way to experience our London Wild spaces, whilst rediscovering play. Make survival shelters, use ropes to make bridges and zip lines through the trees, try out green woodcarving and making natural string from nettles and brambles, learn new bushcraft skills such as primitive fire lighting, and re-awaken your warrior within!
We will learn about plants, and forage for wild medicinal plants to brew up for a healthy and invigorating herbal tea and forest bath to ground us.
We will learn about Celtic tree magic, its place in mythology and the ogham tree alphabet.
About Forest School
The ethos of Forest School is based around nurturing the holistic growth of the individual involved – fostering resilience, confidence, independence and creative thinking by playing and discovering in the woods. These are not only the needs of a child and the more we exist in a world which tears us away from a direct experience with it, the more vital it is to get out into the woods and play, learn and grow strong roots.
Natures metaphors are strong reminders of the state of human reality –at Forest school you will learn useful micro motivators to help you focus throughout the day, and breathing techniques to calm and connect with nature and yourselves.
Being in Nature in an intentional exploration of its structures helps you to explore the structures underpinning your individual resilience and learn about your abilities to work as a cohesive whole, whilst allowing individuals to flourish.
We work on the themes of: Personal Resilience, Self-esteem, Self-Assertiveness, Living purposefully, Cooperation and interdependence
