Urban Outdoors are extending their provision to our brand new Ancient Woodland in East Sussex near St. Leonards-on-sea.
Our new 6 Acre woodland is a semi-ancient woodland of Chestnut, Hazel, Hawthorne, Ash, Willow, Silver birch, Holly and veteran Oaks. Native English bluebells cover the site in early May, and wood anemone, Goat Willow, Honeysuckle and wild orchid populate the site.
Our woods are home to Badgers, with badger sets evident in the northern edges, and there is a Ghyll stream running alongside the woods where amphibians including crested newts, toads and frogs have made their homes.
We are running a number of Volunteers Days throughout 2024 to learn new skills, help on our conservation works digging, clearing, coppicing, and planting trees – come with us to discover and connect with this beautiful piece of the English Countryside.
